Plebe Summer Running Groups Qualifications

I just got through plebe year and since I wasn't the best of runners, I remember plebe summer running all too well. Most of what has been said is true. After the IST they split you up into running groups (about 6-7 of them) and they do not really monitor who is in what group very closely. If one person is just killing a group or is falling back from the group too much, it's on them to personally move themselves up or down a group level. What you put into it, is what you get out of it.

Though the thing is that you'll not be running in groups (or as they call it interval training) everyday. Usually you only run in running groups every other day and then run together as a regiment (a much slower pace but longer distances than interval training) or do more strength based stations on the other days. Hopes this helps

Ice. (Ice. Baby.)

You seem to be able to walk fine, so I doubt anything's fractured. But I'm no doctor.

I got shin splints at the start of second set. Made it all the way to December before getting on chit. And all they did was give me more Motrin. Funny thing with shin splints is that you're able to walk just fine, but magically can't run. Very difficult for your fellow plebes to tell the difference between legitimate shin splints and chit surfing. Know the difference between hurting and being hurt, but carefully consider first impressions; they stick. Forever.

Make sure you ice frequently now, into I-Day, and throughout the summer. Actually stretch during the stretching exercises after PEP.

Well, things have changed already. Back in the day, Friday and Saturday were the only days that didn't incorporate interval running (excepting Sunday, when there was no PEP). Friday was a two part circuit workout and Saturday was reg run/Braveheart runs.

So maybe things will be different once again this year. Have flexible expectations.

See the pain I'm getting is very odd. It tends to hurt less when I'm warmed up, but menial tasks cause it to hurt. I was just worried that it might be a hairline fracture since it's only in a very specific spot.

You're best off going to the doctor.
