Someone just recently asked of plebes were allowed cameras. Besides having a camera, are plebes allowed other tech such as tablets or a personal laptop. I know that plebes are issued a laptop, and that you can buy ipads in the mid store, but what about stuff that you owned before attending the academy?

The other post said exactly that. You can have personal electronics, they must fit in your personal space. I don't think plebes have access to multimedia though, so why bring an over $500 peice of equipment when you will barely be able to use it?

There are times when plebes are granted carry on (beating Army and whatnot).

Also, no one really cares if you rate media at your sponsor house on the weekends.

I had a video project last semester for one of my classes, and a classmate's MacBook with iMovie was quite useful. Some folks also use iPads to take notes in class and buy electronic textbooks. Makes for a lighter backpack, and less susceptible to coffee stains.

Some folks with unlimited data plans also tether electronic devices to their phone as their own personal WiFi hotspot.

Lots of Kindles too. Watch gets boring.

To be clear, this is Ac Year only. Don't bring that stuff for Plebe Summer.

What he said ^^ . DS is a plebe this year. Our experience shows that the less you take to Plebe Summer the happier you'll be. After plebe summer, depending on what company you're in, you might not be allowed anything other than what you are issued. Personal belongings can also be impacted by who wins the various sports, particularly football. Take a cell phone. You'll get to use it a couple of times during plebe summer, and then turn it back in after reassuring your loved ones that you're still alive and breathing. After plebe summer you'll have some cell-phone privileges, again depending upon variables. It's best to "play it by ear" and have your parents mail you things as you find what you can have. All companies compete in every area. If the company grades go down, for example, they may decide to not allow any electronics except for homework. Good Luck!
