Plebes to be scrambled

ACUs have no business in the classroom. They're a utility uniform. Granted they get to wear them sometimes but we're a professional organization and should dress like one.

That's probably one of the many reasons I'll never be in charge of USMA.... I'd graduate a crop of irresponsible slugs. (comparatively speaking)

From a historical (hysterical???) perspective, the pendulum has swung multiple times on garrison vs field uniforms. In multiple countries, some of which we still respect. I'm not in a position to comment on which approach is better for USMA, so won't.

I do wonder about the efficiency of having two different garrison uniforms, virtually identical except for shirt color and hat. (AFC & W/G)

I'm sure there is a reason I've not been exposed to, I'm guessing it's that it has to do with wearing dress gray tunic rather than W/G in the winter?

Then again, if eliminating a uniform allowed them to retain of the professors they let go/downgraded, allow more MIAD's, or even make the plumbing work better, I'd at least put it on the table. It's a net zero budget game (Hopefully not worse).

I agree. I think that West Point Cadets should wear West Point distintive uniforms all of the time except during real field training. I would also get rid of the white shirts that make Cadets look like Midshipmen. Our colors are Black, Gold, and Grey - not Navy white. Just an opinion of a "Old Grad". I wonder who decided to go with Navy White?

I actually agree. Now that we can wear the same shirts that are worn with the blues for the regular army, I wouldn't mind wearing W/G all the time. Especially if it meant getting to wear the white service cap vs. the gray one.

I loathe the gray one (it's uncomfortable and they're not exactly made to fit heads).

Do you mean India Whites?

I suppose we could do away with them. You only really wear them officially three times in your entire cadet career (Camp Illmination, Ring Weekend, and 100th Night).

Although I do think they look pretty good.
