I am in the Great Lakes Region. My portal is still not open. Is this an indication I'm not competitive for admission?

Maybe. Maybe not. Could be a glitch in the system. I'd call the appropriate authorities to ask. No one here can answer your question based on the information you provided. Good luck. I'm hoping it's a glitch! :thumb:

My portal opened in early July, only because I had sent my transcript in and had my NASS CFA score to transfer. No one from USMA notified me that it was opened, I just checked one day.

That said, I just received the "Portal Open" letter yesterday in the mail. It had some pre-addressed envelopes in it for sending transcript, etc.

So, if you have competitive stats, yours might be there today or Monday.

ETA: I don't know exactly how it works, but each Regional Team might be one or two days ahead/behind another Regional Team in determining which candidates go to the next step.

My son is also part of the Great Lakes Region and his portal is also not open. After e-mailing his liaison, he was informed they are just now opening them in this region and if his isn't open by the end of the month to alert them.

The great lakes regional commander just left, Major O'Hern, and they are transitioning to a new one currently. That could be the cause for the delayed opening, but that is just my assumption.

Portal Stuff....

Continue checking the USMA web site listing the RC in your area. There should be a change of contact and send off some emails. Mean while you can prepare a diversity essay, and an essay about yourself. You will also need to identifiy teachers for SOE. Math, science and etc. Be persistant.

In our NE region, there is a person listed, a technical assistant, I think she is called. MY DS e-mails her with any questions, and actually with that one: when will my application open. She usually gets back to him the same day.
