Portals not showing nomination after notification - how long?

DS received notification for his nomination for all 3 SAs over 10 days ago via mail. All his portals do not show his nomination yet. Is that normal timing or should he reach out to admissions to see if they have received it or wait it out a little longer? He has a LOA so he's anxious to be done with the process and get his appointment ;)

If he received notification direct from nom sources, that does not mean that was done at the same time as submission of the slate to each SA. The noms will show up. eventually. If they don’t show by Christmas, he should contact Admissions.

Even with an LOA, all conditions fulfilled and a nom, it could still take until mid-April for an appointment to be offered. Each SA has its own method and timeline for resolving slates. They may wish to wait until all applications are in.

He is in good shape. He should continue to tend alternate plans.

“All 3 SAs” - there are 5. USCGA doesn’t use nominations. USMA, USNA, USAFA and USMMA do, so if he has LOAs to three of four, that would be spectacular. LOAs offer firm assurance of actual appointment, with or without conditions to fulfill. LOE/LOI stop short of that but encourage the candidate to complete their application so it may be considered. You probably know that, but these kinds of posts inform a wide readership.

The USNA was johnny on the spot with my DD. The Nom (GA DIST 6) was announced 11/27 and sent from our MOC to USNA that day. The portal showed it 11/28. And today our MOC forwarded my DD an email* from the USNA stating that on 12/1 the portal will show the Appointment and give her the option to Accept or Decline (and she should expect a call from the Congressman that day- so "ANSWER ALL CALLS!")

*Your Nominee, xxxxxxx
is receiving a Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment to the United States Naval Academy, Class of 2028. The offer will officially go in the system on 12/1/2023, at which point the student will be able to see and accept/decline the offer. Your office is welcome to contact this student to share the good news.

Sorry, I should have said to USMA, USNA and USAFA for his nominations. I forgot that USMMA needs nominations as well. He has a LOA and already 3Q at 1 of the SAs and was just waiting on his nomination as it's his first choice. When he went for his overnight, the admission officer told him that he just needed a nomination and confirmed he's 3Q.

Yes, the notification was directly from our MOC.

So nice that it was so timely! Congrats to your DD!!!

Remember, slates aren't due until Jan 31. The MOC may be wrestling with giving nominations further down the list.
