Since this is my first post on here, I'll introduce myself briefly. I'm a high school senior applying for Army and Air Force ROTC and to West Point. I've completed everything for AROTC and am near done on the other two. I got my DODMERB physical statement in the mail a couple days ago, and I'm wondering if the three "yes" answers I put on the medical history will disqualify me.
1 and 2 go together: I have mild (some may say moderate) acne, and for the last year (since Sept 2009), I've been on Solodyn and had a topical cream to use. I've never been on Accutane or any of the "stronger" acne pills; just Solody (which is the antibiotic Minocycline). Will this disqualify me?
3) Starting last October, I would get fevers (never over 102F) and a sore throat. I've had 4 illnesses of the same thing (Oct, Nov, Dec, then Jan), and after Jan, they suddenly stopped. I'd get a fever, sore throat, and general illness, go to a doctor, get a strep test done (always negative) because there were white blotches on the tonsils, antibiotics, and it would go away. One doctor ruled out sinusitis with a CT scan, and after that, I haven't had antibiotics given for it-i.e. the first 3 times I had antibiotics, then CT scan, the 4th time it just healed on its own without medication. My primary care doctor said that, based on what he'd seen, there was no reason to believe it's contagious, so he encouraged me to go to school should it happen again so long as I feel well enough to get through the day. I'm set to have the tonsils removed in December, but I'm really concerned that this may disqualify me.
Can anybody offer me a little bit of advice? Is there anything I can do to get this waived?
