I've been looking for the dates for I-Day and PPW for the class of 2014, and I haven't been very successful. I think I-Day may be July 1st but I can't find anything about Parents Weekend. Does anyone have these dates or know where I can find them? Thanks

I-Day is July 1st. Schedule for PPW isn't up yet, but as time gets closer you'll be able to find that information on USNA's website http://www.usna.edu///homepage.php most likely it will be posted in the right hand column but if you can't find it there then try the calendars link or admission link (left hand column) and you should find the schedule there.

Hope that helps.

Here are a couple helpful links I've found. The first one is the tentative schedule for 2008 through 2012, with the critical dates listed:

The second one is the link to the schedule from last year's PPW. Don't count on the dates, but it will just give you an idea of what the weekend includes:

You can guess it would be the same weekend this year, but from what I understand, it can change. So I might book a refundable hotel to play it safe, but certainly wouldn't book airfare or anything like that!

If your son/daughter has gotten their appointment, this information will be in their packet that they receive in the early spring. The dates can change, but last year it was July 1st. Wait until they receive it and then make all of your travel plans. For travel, SouthWest is a grest airline since they do not charge fees to change or cancel reservations unless the other flight cost more, then you just pay the difference.

The dates will be out on the web site soon enough. Don't get too over anxious. Last year, they told folks with early appointments I-Day was in late June. Then it came out on the calender as July 1. There was some confusion for a while.................the advice about Southwest Airlines is good.

Thanks everyone! Just looks like I'll have to wait- which I have no problem with. My BGO told my parents to book hotel reservations very early for PPW, so my mom was of course on my case about finding those.

Those dates would be a week later than last year. Where did you get those? Does that mean class of 2014 will have a longer plebe summer?

That weekend - August 13 - is consistent with PPW for the Classes of 2009 and 2010.

As a Class of 2010 parent - this is your first encounter with learning to be as flexible as possible. Airfare, hotel etc may cost you more but look at it this way you will not be writing a tuition check every semester!

We did not book our PPW hotel until 2 weeks into Plebe Summer and had no problem getting a hotel within walking distance of the yard. We booked the IDay hotel late in January and again was able to get a hotel within walking distance of the yard. I do recommend that for those events that you might want something that is within walking distance (especially for IDay) Shuttle bus lines can be very long. And Traffic in Annapolis can be very problematic especially on Sunday afternoon of PPW.

We had six of us for I-Day, so rented a house from Annapolis Accomodations. Really cool, approximately 100 feet from waterfront.

PPW, I booked in June via one of the travel sites: expedia, orbitz, one of those. Got one of the nicer hotels, the Westin, for like $75. Walked back and forth to yard every day. (1.5 miles) I had a rental car, but parking is a headache. When I first reunited with plebe, I asked if he wanted to me to bring car back and forth and he said "Geez, Mom, 1.5 miles is nothing!" I guess compared to what they did daily all summer, that was indeed true.

You'll be able to get reservations in the spring.

When you rented the house - was it in town? Because you mentioned that it was near the water.

Thanks - we're looking to book a place for I-Day and PPW

Lotsa water around here where the Severn meets the Chesapeake around the Annapolis peninsula! Add in the various creeks, runs and rivers adjacent to the Severn (South and Magothy), and you can be waterfront near DTA (downtown Annapolis) and many other places in Annapolis and surrounding communities.

The staff at Annapolis Accommodations is very helpful.
