What do the plebe's wear during their PPW liberty? Their I-Day uniforms, or do they graduate to somehing different by then?

Clarification for newcomers:

What the Plebes wear on I-day is the color white, but is known as "whiteworks."

Near the end of Plebe Summer, the Plebes will have earned the privilege of wearing the Navy "summer white" uniform, which is also called "whites." The summer white uniform is identical to that worn by commissioned officers except for the insignia on their covers (hats) and on their shoulderboards.

OBTW, when you parents first see the 4th class regiment in their summer whites for the first time at noon formation on Friday of PPW, you will be amazed at their transformation from the ragtag bunch that reports in on 1 July. Don't wear a shirt that's too tight, or your buttons might pop off as you look on with justified pride!

^^^ lol!

I was wondering: if the plebes want to go swimming in the hotel during PPW do they have to bring their USNA swimming trunks/bathing suits?

The summer whites are referred to as whites, the white works are referred to as white works. There is no confusion there. White works go away after plebe summer. The pants are extremely comfortable but throw them away after the summer if you don't want them. Just more stuff to move around and make your life less enjoyable. The midshipman combo cover is slightly different than the officer cover. The white top on the mid cover is almost plastic and hard to keep clean. Officers wear cotton which is both breathable and cleanable. It's been over a year since I've worn a combo cover.

Technically yes but unless your parents are going to bilge you out don't worry about it. The upperclass want to stay away from you as much as you want to stay away from them.

Does anyone know when we can switch to contacts or our regular glasses? Is it PPW?

Depends on the company and the plebe. Some cadre won't care as long as you putting on your contacts isn't holding up the show. Once you start sporting the BCG's though, there is no turning back until after PPW. If they are in a good mood, some cadre may allow you to wear your snazzy civilian glasses. Just play it by ear.
