I'm currently an active duty Marine and my most recent ACT was over two years ago and is therefore expired. I'm waiting for the next test date to take the SAT here on base. For the preliminary application can I put my expired ACT scores or should I wait till I take and get back the results of this upcoming SAT?

There is a dedicated Admissions resource for fleet applicants -- Senior Chief Regino.

Suggest you contact him in Candidate Guidance regarding your question. I'm sure you're not the first fleet applicant with this issue and he is the "official" source.

My DS was in your situation (also active duty Marine) last year. He opted to wait to submit his new scores. He took both ACT & SAT on base in Japan. Be advised, the SAT scores are a little slower to come in when they're taken through the base. He was anxiously waiting for them to post on the USNA candidate profile. I recommend taking both tests at the next available test dates. Fyi...fortunately, my DS did well on both even after being out of school for two years. He ended up with an LOA, followed by a color blind waiver to NAPS where he is excelling. Thought you might like to hear some positive results of applying as active duty USMC. Best of luck to you.

As USNA1985 stated, Chief (LSC) Regino would be the one to ask. It might also be helpful to talk to any USNA graduate within your unit.

-If you haven't already visited the USNA Admission's Active Duty Applicant page (http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/Steps-for-Admission/Active-Duty-Service-Applicants.php), this would be a good resource.
It contains important references (Marine Corps Order 1530.11G, ALNAV 064/14, and MARADMIN 477/14) and a checklist.

Best of luck!

I have already read through the most recent Maradmin. It says I can add new scores until Jan 31 but it doesn't specify if I can complete the preliminary application with no up to date scores. Is Candidate Guidance another forum or how could I contact Senior Chief Regino directly? Thanks for the help

Prelim app are self reported scores so put in your most recent scores regardless of how long ago. Once you become a candidate they will leave score section blank until you send them official scores from next time you test

Candidate Guidance is official name for USNA Admissions. If you go to usna.edu/admissions, there is a button for "contact admissions" and gives you options via phone and email. Contact them, tell them you're a fleet applicant, and ask for the Chief who works with those candidates.
