Can someone explain how and when one is chosen for either prep school and/or Falcon Scholars?

I understand that prep school is often used to bring enlisted, athletes, etc. up to academic speed, but what if you are "qualified no vacancy"?

Have the Falcon Scholars already been chosen or is that an option for those who received the TWE this week?

Prep School

I talked to my ALO after getting my TWE and he said Admissions told him that I was "over qualified" for prep school and would not be offered a Prep slot. I thought I had a chance since my ACT was 27/GPA 3.6/Class rank 8%.

I received my Falcon Scholarship a week after the "qualified no vacancy" letter last year.

You can't be "over qualified" for the Falcon Scholarship. All my ACT scores were in the 30s.

Falcon Scholar

My son got his TWE around this time last year and about 2-3 weeks later received the letter about being a Falcon Scholar. That means a little more waiting for you, but still may be a possibility.

Prep Schooler's from my squad:

2- USAFA Prep School: Recruited Athletes
3- Private Prep School (2 at NMMI, 1 at NWP): 1 Recruited Athlete, 2 with just barely below the required SAT/ACT score.

Hope this clarifies the Falcon Scholars a little. Those are just 5 examples from my squad.

Have never heard of prep schools for college (except academy prep schools, of course)...what are some examples that others know about/have gone to?
