How exactly does the whole prep school process work? Are those who get deferred from appointment automatically put into consideration for prep school? Is being recommended for prep school different than being thrown into the "considered" for prep school pile? I have heard so much about prep school and I wanted to see if I could clear up some questions I had. Thanks!

Not sure I can fully answer your questions but last year my son received CGAS (prep). He applied EA1 and in December he received a call saying he was being offered a CGAS appointment. He received a letter in the mail a few days later formally offering him a CGAS appointment. I think everyone who is not offered a full/conditional appointment is considered for CGAS but I have no idea how they decide who will get CGAS offers.
I think I read on here someplace that most CGAS offers this year would not be made until the end of RA.
