Do any of the moderators or BGOs believe that all 100 appointments with Presidential Nominations have been given out already? Just curious. Thanks.

I doubt that very much. I think there should be a substantial number left.... just my surmise though.

Hi. Still deep into the learning curve here. Dadx4, what do you mean when you ask if "all 100 appointments with Presidential Nominations have been given out already"? Thanks.

From what I understand, there are 100 appointments made from the Presidential slate. My DD has a Presidential. I was just wondering if she still had a chance..if all 100 appointments from the Presidential slate have been given out.

The president has an unlimited number of nominations, but the service academy can only accept 100 from that slate.

All if the Presidential appointments have NOT been given out. It was simply a question that was asked.

Agree with Kinnem. They have not all been given out. Remember as more nomination slated roll in, USNA starts to move people around to fill out the class. This is where the art of the process for USNA comes in. It's why USNA asks candidates to apply to all Nom sources. One week a candidate could be slated to be charged to their Congressman. Maybe another week their name has moved to a Senator's list. When I was a Plebe many light years ago we filled out some price of paper that had our Nom source on it. Probably half of us were surprised where's our noms were eventually charged.

Thanks, Kinnem and NavyHoops. I understood from your initial reply Kinnem that they probably weren't all given out. I just didn't understand the question to begin with - mostly because I'm easily confused by the whole slate thing. Thanks Dadx4 and 5Day for clearing that up for me.

Not directed at the OP, but a general comment:

This is why candidates and parents SHOULD NOT be worrying about the nomination charging process. All that candidates and parents need to worry about is applying to all eligible sources (as NavyHoops said) and competing for the nominations -- nothing more or less. Worrying about how many appointments are left on a slate doesn't help with anything because (1) we do not know the answer and (2) as NavyHoops also said, charging moves around.

Thanks usnabgo08. Totally agree with you, was just trying to get an idea of where the Board might be with the Presidential slate. Understand what Hoops is saying too. But with only a Presidential and a completed application since August, I feel like my DD is just counting down to a TWE at this point. I would never tell her that of course, because of all the hard work she put in and she wants to attend USNA so much.

It isn't over until the TWE comes.
