My DD has fully completed her application and is 3Q. She also holds a Presidential nomination (I'm a retired USAF Officer). As she should be an extremely competitive candidate (yes, aren't all of our kids :)), could she still receive an LOA pending the outcome of her MOC nomination applications or since she currently holds a Presidential Nom would she receive an offer of appointment and then maybe have her nomination source moved around once the MOC nominations start filtering in? Hope this question makes sense.

Hi Juvat,

Minor Tip: Cross-posting is against the rules so one of the mods will probably remove this thread.

But welcome to the communnity! I responded to your question on USAFA forum and hopefully it will help.

My son also had a Presidential nomination and received an LOA in mid-October, 2013, pending Dodmerb's input. He received his appointment in early November.

At that point he had all of his application materials in at his MOC's, but they were not ready to even schedule interviews. (Not sure if the government shutdown had any impact on this process last year)

When he heard from the first of the MOC's to schedule an interview he hesitated because he already had the appointment but this particular Senators office strongly encouraged him to come in regardless. He checked with his BGO, who gave him the same advice. When he arrived for the interview though, he said it was somewhat awkward for him since the first thing he was asked was "why are you here-you already have an appointment?"

My understanding was that USNA likes candidates to pursue as many nomination sources as possible, as it gives them some wiggle room if you had multiple nominations. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the tip MedB. Wasn't aware of the rule, just wanted to be sure post was seen across both threads. My apologies to the mods.

Thanks also for the original repsonse!

Thanks ahs67. That is helpful, and congrats on the appointment!
