Does it help your chances of getting admitted into the Coast Guard Academy if you are previously enlisted. I have also heard that they have spots set aside for previous enlisted. Is there any truth to this?

Others will need to answer your direct question, but one may wish to reconsider using ones actual name on any blog site.

We do not have spots reserved for current/prior enlisted members of the Coast Guard or other military services, but we usually have at least two or three in each class. Your performance while on active duty and the strength of your command endorsement will definitely impact your "chances" for appointment either directly to the Academy or prep school...not just the fact that you were or are currently enlisted.
