Wouldn't being qualified for a direct appointment make you un-qualified for prep school?
 
He was a principal nominee who inexplicably did not get an appointment and was placed on the WL. I believe this is how they are trying to "fix" the principal nominee problem-even if some of them are overqualified for NAPS.

Oh ok, thank you 2018midmom.

I just always assumed that NAPS was for those who needed extra academic preparation, not a "holding pattern" for qualified (but not selected) applicants.

In general, you're correct (ignoring recruited athletes) but this is an extremely unusual case where USNA evidently really screwed things up.
 
Newport RI is an awesome little town! Can't see how anyone would not like it. The clam chowder at the Black Pearl on the wharf is legendary.

ya go to the USNA website it will tell you there. Last year it was third week in July. Good luck. Remember no matter what, your in. Long way to go , but in the end YOU WILL be a graduate from the USNA.
