I just received an email from USMA's admissions office stating "Only a select few are invited to apply to West Point you are one." and that my academic records have impressed them and that I should start on my priority scholar application! My question is should I be happy about this email or is it a generic one sent to everyone? :)

I got one of those too last year. I think this might have something to do with info they received from the college board about my SAT. I honestly don't know, but I would take this as a good sign :)

I don't know how many folks get them but it is a far cry from everyone. I too think its from SAT info they somehow get.

I am going to be blunt here in the fact that, as far to my knowledge, no one is invited to apply to West Point. This is a generic email that uses your submitted test scores (for the SLE application and other sources) to find potential applicants.

IMO, do not worry about this email as you will receive many more from WP. Focus on making your application as strong as possible.

I apologize for the bluntness, but I do wish you good luck! If you have any questions regarding the application process feel free to DM me and I will be more than willing to help!

West Point purchases data from the testing services about students who havent opted out. They send correspondence to those candidate who meet their desired score range.

I received M:750 CR:710 and W:780 for a total SAT of 2240, and I didn't receive a priority email thing haha. I did get something in the mail inviting me to apply, however.

I honestly hadnt even thought about WP until I got that email last year. Now I'm sitting with an appointment waiting for R day and couldn't imagine it any other way. Good luck on your journey through this process, hope it works out for the best!
