    Hello!

I just wanted to know if anyone knew of people making it off of the Project GO waitlist?

Is everyone waitlisted, or are some people flat out rejected?

Just trying to figure out if I should be applying for jobs this summer.

    Hi,

Did they apply for scholarships? Everyone who applied for scholarships with the ASU programs found out today, but maybe that's not for the actual program.

I wonder if different schools make the scholarship announcement at different times. Does the announcement come from the ROTC at the school? I asked my son today and he said that he got into the program, but wouldn't find out about the scholarship until March 1st. Maybe he is wrong about the date if it's the same for all applicants.

This is completely dependent on your program- I'd ask.

I asked my son to explain the process a little more. He said that March 1st is the date for people at his school to find out, so each school must have different dates. This is what he said: Everyone who applies for the scholarship is put into a list called the Order or Merit list. You are ranked by GPA, PT scores, extracurriculars, ect.

How you are ranked will determine your number slot on the list of getting the scholarship. That's how he explained it, anyway. He knows how he is ranked, but doesn't know how many slots will be available.

My DD has been notified a couple of weeks ago that she is accepted by Project GO to attend the California State University for Arabic. She is in the process of booking her flight to there now, her major is Middle Eastern studies at the University of Toledo and a MS1.

Every host university has its own deadlines. My son applied to Project Go programs at four universities. He received rejections from two during the third week of January, and acceptance to two at the beginning of February. One university did not have a waitlist as all of its applicants accepted; another did. With the one he is accepting, he received the Project Go scholarship first, and now has to apply to the study abroad program thru the host university by March 1. So for some universities it is a two-step process.

Also, with regard to how applicants are selected, I know my son had to get a commander recommendation and a professor recommendation.

My son told me today that he was accepted into the study abroad program, but he is wait listed for the scholarship. That's probably not a good sign because I assume the majority of people who apply for the scholarships will accept them. Congratulations to those who were offered scholarships!

That being said, many cadets apply for multiple programs, so I imagine there are a number of strong applicants who were offered scholarships to multiple places and have to turn one down. He could definitely still get a scholarship.

Unfortunately, I was waitlisted for the only program I applied to, so I am in the process of trying to add myself to more waitlists in the hopes of still snagging a slot.

Is Project Go based upon each university? What if a university is a Flagship program like Michigan St for Arabic? Can they except more, or do they get more funding the more a candidates apply. Looking into this for the summer 2016 so any clarification on how a university and the Army works on scholarships would be great.

Congratulations! Will she be going abroad, or studying in the states, or what? Or does that remain to be seen?

I would imagine that this year Project GO will have to reach into the wait list. As cadets found out very late about CULP (many who applied and were accepted to GO in the meantime) and as they find our about about CIET there will be a host of those having to remove themselves from Project Go.

Hadha, How did you add yourself to other program's waitlists?

My DS was waitlisted to the only program he applied for on March 2nd and they mentioned they will notify him by March 20th if he is taken off the waitlist. If he could add his name to other slots that might be nice. Thanks.

Hi Georgia Mom, I actually didn't end up adding myself to other waitlists since I got off the waitlist for the program I applied to. However, I think your son can still submit applications to some of the programs -- the ROTC Project GO facebook page posted that people can still apply to the Jordan program a couple days ago. I'm guessing for all of the programs, you just follow the application process and your application will be considered for the waitlist.
