Pros to applying early?

We did not receive that email (she did not do AIM) just the letter with the October 1st date instead of 10/15 like we thought. She is in the middle of XC season and had 2 dates set to do her PFE with the person at her school that administers them that made sense with her training schedule, but the first one got cancelled due to storms and the other one is not until 10/2. She will call the admissions to make sure- just thought I would check to see if anyone had already received an answer about the date- thanks!

After you call admissions ....post what you find out.... my son got a generic email the other day stating Oct. 15th as EA deadline so I'm guessing it's a typo (hopefully!)

My daughter received a letter from USCGA admissions discussing the items due for the application and it gave an application deadline of October 1st. This is a different date than everything we have seen online- has anyone else seen this letter?
That was an unfortunate typo...the Early Action deadline remains October 15th for the Class of 2021.

It is a typo- she talked to the coach and admissions officer to be sure- phew! She has worked really hard to get the application done and has been so on top on things so was hoping it was just an error.

Great!!

I guess my DD will have to wait for RA since she is re-taking her SAT on Oct. 1. Am I right in assuming they want all test scores in by the Oct. 15 deadline? Too bad. She has a strong application with all of the leadership, sports and extracurricular's but SAT is a little low. Better to not chance it. We asked her admission counselor what she recommended and she said only we could answer that question.

Have you asked someone about this for a definitive answer? Maybe she can still apply EA. We are in the same boat, trying to apply EA but taking the Oct 1 SAT this Saturday. The scores are being published on 10/20, just five days after deadline. Wouldn't they take it as long as your file is not up for review yet? If you apply close to the actual deadline, your file may still have time. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I read somewhere that they give recommendation letters a grace period until 11/1 to be turned in, unofficially. If that's the case, what about a test that's already taken and a score is on its way? We've written our AO asking about this, but still haven't gotten an answer. If anyone knows for certain, please post. Thank you!

Also, when you say the SAT score is a little low, how low? There's a chance it may still be competitive enough. does anyone have any idea of the SAT score that the admissions would consider to be competitive enough for EA? Is there like a magic number or a cutoff? I've heard both 650+ in all areas or 1900+ total, but is that accurate?

This is what we're stuck on too. We went to and informational and met with the associate director of admissions and he said 650 was the average score for both sections of the sat. My DD has 620 so if she applies EA she risks not getting in if she doesn't raise her scores on tomorrow's sat test. We thought we'd get a tutor and then do RA. That makes me nervous too. I don't want spots running out! I'm still waiting to find out if they'll accept scores after the deadline. That would make all of the difference.

It is my understanding that they will accept scores that come in after application is submitted.

While that is true, it is best to have a complete package. However, you can update your application with additional scores if they arrive before your application is reviewed. The thing is you don't know when your application will be reviewed.

If the SAT score hasn't arrived by the review date during EA, do you know if it automatically gets deferred to regular admissions, or do they wait for the SAT score and review when it gets there? Just found out that even sending old SAT scores takes 1-2 weeks to reach colleges from date of request. Do the applications usually get reviewed as soon as they're submitted? We're wondering if we need to submit the application as close to the 10/15 EA deadline as possible to make sure the scores get there first. Does anyone know?

My DD's admissions counselor(sorry. Don't know the acrynoms) made it very clear to us that if scores were not in by te time you turn in the complete application on Oct. 15 then we would risk not having a complete app. We decided to do reg. admission to be safe.

Ugh. Thank you for letting us know. Now we at least know which way to gamble
