I just got my results from taking the PSAT and I scored pretty average, although I have a weighted gpa of 4.4 and in the top 10% of my 450 person class it bothered me. I just want to know if I can continue my grades and class rank, will scoring average on the SAT hurt my admission chances academically?

The SAT score is an important indicator of your expected success in college. Most colleges use this or the ACT score in their admissions process. So, regardless of its impact to your academy application, you need to do your best to get your scores above average. Take both the SAT and ACT two or three times. Most people do better on subsequent exams. Some folks do better on ACT, some on SAT. Use practice exams from the College Board to prep or find some other way to prep. You'll need to do this for plans B, C, D, and E anyway - all of which I hope you're pursuing. :thumb:
