I'm trying to fill out one of the many forms in the PTR packet, and I am not exactly sure what is the "norm" for release of grades and military performance information to my nominating source. Do most people release this type of info to their senator/congressman? Is it looked down upon at all if you choose not to disclose the info? I would assume most people choose to release the info, but I could be wrong. Is there another chance other than seemingly automatically to get this info to one's nom source? Thanks for the help.

I believe you can change this in MIDS (Midshipmen Information System) at any time, so you could decide to do allow or not allow now and then reverse it later on.

They do not send grades to parents or nom sources no matter how this is filled out. I do not know why they still include it.

Never got grades for any. At every institution they are now considered an "Adult" after age 18. After 18 they have to give permission for parents to see grades and records. Even Medical. You pay tuition and medical insurance but can't see.

It may not be that USNA releases this information at specific intervals, but if parents/nomination source ask/request for it (i.e. they call USNA), then they might release the information for the midshipman that consented. I really have never heard of a MOC calling to ask about its constituents grades, but who knows?

OP you need to make the assumption, that if you consent, your parent(s) and/or nominating source CAN receive this information.
