CFA scores

The "word" from USAFA "unofficially" (as I can't post anything that might be sent out...)

Is that the AD's are almost ALL related to failing one or more portions of the CFA.

As to the question of a "weak CFA but a varsity athlete..." not really relevant: you either pass or you fail. If pass, no issues; if fail...

Hello Steve, do you know about what CFA scores will pass? My son's weakness was in the basket ball throw...I think he was at 48' on it. Everything else was up there and ok from what I know about the CFA. Mark Mac

It's my understanding that they don't release the passing scores at all. Here's mine and I haven't been disqualified:

Basketball throw: 69ft.
Pullups: 3
Shuttle run: 8.8s
Situps: 82
Pushups: 40
One mile run: 6:34

I figured I'd get DQ'd for my low pullups and or pushups score, but I haven't been! The CFA is mainly there to help them determine if you're staying active and healthy. If your DS hasn't already been DQ'd then he should be safe. I doubt they're going to give out any more AD's since most of the appointments are going out. I could be wrong though!

QNV=?

Sorry to ask this ... what does QNV stand for? Qualified not ____________. I'm assuming it is like West Point's 3QNS, right?

The other poster is correct, USAFA doesn't list (anymore) what would be a "fail" in any category. But it exists.

In the past...and I'm going on memory...but 53' stands out in my mind as does 3 pullups...the rest...blurry...I'd have to research.

But be advised...for a male candidate...3 pull-ups is a NEON LIGHT saying "I'm low on the list..."

It may well be passing but it's not scoring points.

Yes, I understand. I'd rather be on the list with a low score than off the list however, hence the "phew." I've got plans B and C ready.

Thanks flieger83 for the info on the basket ball throw... hopefully since my son's other scores were at the top of the scale and he has an average mile run of 4:40 they will let the BB throw pass... have not heard anything from the USAF yet. The Navy said it was a pass already on the CFA but I think the Navy may not put as much stock on the basket ball throw as WP or USAF yet.
