I recently got in contact with my USAFA Counselor and he said that my status was currently Qualified No Vacancy. I've heard the term before and I know it doesn't mean that I'm fully denied. What exactly does this mean in relation to my admissions status?

Unfortunately, I believe this means you've been denied and not put on the wait list. I've heard that those on the wait list are informed. I was "qualified no vacancy" last year, and I was never informed of being on the wait list. I think all it means is that you could have received an appointment, but others were more competitive than you. I think there's a chance that in an extreme case you could still receive an appointment. My understanding of nominations is that if the person that got the appointment from your nomination source gets themselves disqualified or they deny the appointment, then the appointment would be given to the next in line in your nomination source. But the whole idea of a wait list kind of says that doesn't happen, and the appointment would actually go to next best in the nation. Not sure exactly how that works...

I would go with airforceacademy. It sounds like you are on the NWL. Personally, I would wait for the letter, if the RD told you already than the letter is in the mail.

From yrs passed, I believe I recall some were told Qualify, but no Vacancy and told/read they are on the NWL. Others stated they got Qualified, but no Vacancy and the letter said nothing about the NWL. If it does not say anything about NWL, then it would be like graphics scenario.

People do come off of the NWL as late as a day or two before BCT. However, I would suggest you move forward with Plan B and hope you get Plan A sometime in the future.
