I'm confused about the command (not sure if that is the right term) structure.

What is an accountability representative and a floor representative? Also, are both the CTO and COs seniors? Are the plebes on different floors from the upperclassmen?

I feel like I should know all this by now, and I don't want to pester DS with emails, so I would appreciate the help.

I'll let someone else address the titles but the Plebe Candidates and upperclass are mixed on the floors, except regimental officers are separate.

What is an accountability representative and a floor representative?
Accountability is a fancy way of saying "head count," accountability representatives take a roll call at certain musters and make sure that everyone is present or accounted for. Floor representatives are in charge of one deck and report to the company commander (CC) they are tasked with keeping their deck clean, and making sure everything is in order on their floor.

Also, are both the CTO and COs seniors?
Yes, CTO's are seniors, they are "Midshipman Lt. jg's" and are basically in charge of the plebe class in their company. Commanding Officers (CO) are not to be confused with Company Commanders (CC). The CC is a first class midshipman who is in charge all aspects of their company. The CO, comanding officer is a commissioned officer in the USMS, who acts in an advisory roll to the company. The CO's let the CC's run the show, but are always there for help or guidance.

Are the plebes on different floors from the upperclassmen?
    Nope.

Beyond, In an ideal world the CO lets the CC run the show and only advises but we all know that is not the case. Without names some are on power trips and rule their company as a dictator.

Some COs in the past were given quaint, humorous nicknames in the past. I am sure it is much the same now. I was fortunate enough during Plebe year to have one of those COs that fit into the "Ideal World" scenario. I can't even remember if he HAD a nickname.

Certain Commandants were also given humorous nicknames, too.

CMAKIN, You are right. When I was there in the late sixties all the CO's and BO's had nicknames but none of them operated like current CO's

Cheapshot, The Shadow, Sideburns and Launchpad to name a few. They sure were an interesting cast of characters. Launchpad even became a character in a comic in Hear This.

They were called Company Officers in my day. We had one come in intent on "changing" the Acaemy but left after only one year. I sure did enjoy the look on his face when I told him how irrelevant the four weeks of restriction were that he was trying to stick me with right before graduation.

Sideburns was Burnside if I remember correctly. I actually enjoyed him a bit :) but didn't live in 4th co when he was there. The Shadow will live on in infamy forever as far as I'm concerned.

The Shadow - aka LCDR Harry Richards USMS was my BO/CO (Battallion Officer then Company Officer) all 4 years I was at KP. We all remember his famous lead-up to his correcting any issue he had with you "back in the day":

"Mr. XXXXX, Now you know, that I know, that you know you aren't (or if he was actually pissed he'd slip and say "ain't" supposed to ..."

Last I heard he had retired to South Florida, my cousin, her husband, kids and in-laws met he and his wife while at a Japanese Hibachi restaraunt in WPB a couple of years ago. I was surprised that when she told him her cousin graduated from KP, he remembered me. So whatever we think/thought apparently at least for some of those folks we too made a lasting impression on them as well.

Man, I forgot that about Harry ('You know that I know. . . .' ). I only dealt with him my short third class year. All of the rest of my time at the Zoo was over in First Battallion.

The past two years, we had a Major, USMC Reserves-Ret who was on a one man crusade againt all evil at KP. There were weekends where he gave out demerits in the upper 900's, and I think he broke 1000 a few times. Of course, only about 10% of them actually went thru....
