Hello, this is my first post as I am new to this community.
I have a few questions about the application process to the Naval Academy, and I was hoping that someone could answer them. I am also seeking some advice regarding a few of my concerns about the process.

I am currently applying to the US Naval Academy for the class of 2016. Last week I received a Letter of Assurance from the USNA.
I know that the LOA is a guarantee that I will be admitted if I successfully fulfill the rest of my remaining requirements. My only requirement is a nomination from a member of Congress.

Here is my main question: Does the Academy reconsider the LOAs that it sends out? The only reason that I ask this is because I am having a tougher time in school this year as opposed to years in the past. I am not doing badly in school, just not exactly as well as I have done in the past.
In the past three years, I have received A's in nearly all of my classes, while I only received B's in honors Chemistry and AP Physics.
This year, I will most likely receive two B's... one is in AP Chemistry, and another is AP Calculus. I know this may not seem like a big deal, but I have been stressing out about it. Do you think that the Academy would reconsider my LOA if I receive two B's in one semester? The classes are very challenging as they are college level courses.
(My GPA will remain the same because I am taking four AP classes this semester. My class rank will most likely stay the same, but it could drop by one rank.)
I am trying my hardest to get an A in both classes, but it may not happen.
Additionally, all other aspects of my application remain unchanged.

Also, here is my final question... When do MOCs usually send in their nominations to the Academy? My Congressional Representative already held his interviews, and my two Senators will hold their interviews in early December.
Thank you very much for any help!

I received my nomination a week after my interview with my congressman, but I'm sure it varies.

If you screw up really bad in school, (like fail classes) they would probably reconsider your LOA, but remember they picked you after an evaluation of your whole person. I doubt getting two B's in AP courses will affect you at all.

Good luck! Hope you get that nomination!

If your academic situation is as you've noted, sweat not. Really. Altho USNA can do what it must, including rescinding an LOA ... or offer of appointment for that matter ... you'll be fine. 2 AP "B's" 'll not put your LOA @ risk. Stay healthy, behave well, keep working to do your best, get that nomination and you're on your way. Congrats and stay the great course you're navigating!

As for timing, each is different. In light of your scheduling, and your LOA, I'd speculate you'll be receiving a nom from your MOC, and hear soon. The fly in this ointment MIGHT be that your MOC does not determine nominations until the senators have completed their process. Many states have collaboration among the political nominators to ensure that as many worthy candidates might have a shot. So the answer is ... it depends. Hope this helps.

    What's your state?

Again, I'd speculate you are in excellent shape. Congrats.

Not advocating it, but if you got all Bs in AP/Honor classes for the rest of this year, I would be shocked if they rescinded the LOA/Appointment. Now if you start getting Ds, then I would say it is time to worry. Personally, I am enjoying my senior year. I will most likely get a few Bs and the rest As because I do want to enjoy myself before possibly going to USNA (still need nom). Enjoying your senior year is usually the advice that most plebes give to candidates, just don't aim for Cs and lower.

Thank you for the support and encouragement! I am definitely going to try my best to do well in school and to stay healthy for the rest of the year.
And in response to your question, I live in Northwest Indiana. I do not really know the level of competition that exists in my state or my district.

Good luck to anyone else in the application or nomination process!

I expect USNA would be happy to get someone who already completed those courses with a B. Many at the Academy complete them in Plebe year with Cs. Don't let it goto your head! :thumb:
