If a Plebe validates out of 4 classes, what is the net effect of that? Does he/she ultimately take 4 less classes over 4 years? Or do they fill those 4 "open" spots with additional upper level classes? Or do they serve as 4 electives that they can use as they wish down the road?

Some plebes land in classes mostly populated by 3/c. They usually just get to start further along in the core matrix. Same rough number of credits /course load overall, with more chance of electives if core classes are fewer. Provides opportunity for double majors and VGEP.
VGEP is where they complete all undergraduate courses by December of 1/c year. They continue as a mid, living in Bancroft Hall, but leave the Yard to attend Master's classes at Johns Hopkins, GWU, Maryland, Georgetown, American. They graduate and commission with their class. They stay in area to complete Master's in December of their class year, then proceed as normal to warfare community.

Your plebe will soon be able to explain all this.
