Question: Number of LOAs this year

So my son, wife and I attended a USNA admissions meeting at a local high school this morning. Lt Malone spoke for Admissions and gave a good overview on the services, the academy, and admissions. A high school senior was pleasantly surprised to receive an LOA. Doug Adair, one of the BG officers spoke about his experience as a parent of a Mid. Also, MID Pritchett spoke about life as a Mid.

At the end there was a Q and A time and a few questions were asked. I asked how many LOAs would be sent out this year. The answer from Lt Malone - not many. Well, I tried...

Hey, I'm that senior, and you could say I was a little more than pleasantly surprised. Shocked would be a much more accurate word; I had no idea that was going to happen. I honestly didn't expect to even get one at all, much less at an admissions forum. By that point in the presentation, I had zoned out a little bit (having heard it all about 5 times before) and it really caught me off guard.
