Hey, I will be going to an "Service Academy Information Day" at my congressman's office tomorrow morning, and I just had a few questions.

First, what exactly goes on at these events? Is it just a presentation where all the different rep's talk, or do we walk around and talk to them individually?
Second, should my parents come along with me?
Lastly, I was planning on wearing khakis/polo shirt, is that fine or do I need something a little more formal?

I have been to two.

Both were different in the presentation aspect, but I can tell you, you do want your parents to go with you.

I would agree with mtnman17 and have your parents come along. Usually you'll have admissions reps from the various academies and hopefully some cadets and mids as well to give a first hand account of the service academy experience. Personally I'd recommend going with a shirt and tie vs. the polo shirt. The cadets and mids will be in uniform and the congressional reps in coat and tie. It's always better to be overdressed than underdressed. Ask lots of questions as this is a great forum to learn about the service academies!

My son wore Khaki's and a polo. You don't need to do a shirt and tie. We found it very informative. Bring paper and pen for notes.
