Hey everyone! I am currently a junior in high school and it has always been my dream to attend the Naval Academy. I have a question regarding Presidential nominations... My father graduated from the Academy in 83' and served active duty in the Marine Corps for 20 years. Does this mean I will likely attain a Presidential nomination? Also, how and when would I begin this process. Thank you for your time!

Also, any tips on getting into Summer Seminar?

If your father is retired, you are eligible and will rcv a Presidential Nomination. You will apply for this Spring/Early summer of your Junior year. Every candidate who qualifies for this nomination rcvs it, but they only offer 100 appointments from this nomination category, so you still need to apply to all other nomination sources during the spring of your Jr year.

First tip to getting in to summer seminar is take either ACT or SAT ASAP, and hope for great scores! On your application make sure to highlight your leadership and community service as well as your grades and test scores. As with admission to USNA, summer seminar looks for the "whole person" well rounded candidate.
