Good morning everyone! My DS had a few questions about re-applying to USAFA after being offered a FF Scholarship so I told him I'd post them on here:
1. Do you start a whole new application or just update last years?
2. Did you get all new recommendations or use last years? (Assuming you may get at least one new one from someone at the Prep school?)
3. Did you apply just to USAFA or to other SA's?
4. Do you interview with your ALO again?
Thank you!

I was West Point sponsored this year at MMI, so things could be slightly different, but we had virtually the same requirements for admission that the FF's had.
1. You do have to reapply.
2. We had to get new recommendations.
3. I didn't apply to other schools, but some did. As long as your DS takes care of business at school, the appointment is his to lose.
4. We interviewed with our advisor at the school, but for us an interview was needed.

1.Basically just updating last year's and sending in another transcript. You don't have to re-do essays, however.
2.Nope. The school evaluations are all waived and there's no need to send in optional letters. The prep school director will usually take care of writing a recommendation for you and sending it with final grades, etc.
3.Just USAFA. It's generally considered poor form to apply to another SA, but I know it's happened.
4.Nope, and you don't need an ALO to unlock the Drug/Alcohol form either. You probably won't interact with your ALO again until it's time to do your Tattoo form after receiving an appointment.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions either here or through PM.

BlahuKahuna is spot on. I'd like to add that (at least for Northwestern Prep) the recommendation from the director of the school is the only recommendation you'll ever need. Technically, if you REALLY wanted to, you could send in addition recommendations, but the one that the Durbeck's fill out (at NWP) is all encompassing about your character and academic ability.
