I am currently a sophomore in highschool. When and how should I get into contact with my MALO? Also, is Texas competitive for nominations? Thanks for any help or advice you may offer:)

Its good that you are starting early. As far as contacting a MALO, ALO, BGO, etc. Its tricky. They are very busy and really only focused on their current candidates. I emailed mine back in soph year. Took a month for him to respond, but he was very informative. Nothing is wrong with contacting him/her early, shows interest. But dont take any offense if they dont respond or reply late. Just introduce yourself, and say you look forward to working with him/her within the coming years.

I actually met my MALO by accident a couple months ago in my current sophomore year. He talks to me regularly even though I'm not a candidate. I think mainly because I live in a small town. I mean, I've run into my MALO around town 4 times by accident already.

I would say definitely contact your MALO if you can. There's no downside and your MALO can give you some tips or look at your file or whatever.

You can send an e-mail to admissions and they will be happy to give you some information.

I don't know for sure about Texas, but it is a large state with some larger military presence.

Im currently looking for my MALO officer. Does anyone know how to find it? (sorry if I veered off-topic)

If you have a candidate number and password, it's on your portal. If you can't find it, Marciemi will probably look in the MALO database for you if you send her a PM.
