When you go to your West Point Candidate file, what does the "code" under the nominations tab mean? For example for mine it says

NOMINATIONS RECEIVED
CODE
MI62

I am going to guess it stands for the congressman/woman who gave you the nomination but I am still curious

Thanks!

Identification. You're from Michigan. Mine is IL10. I'm from Illinois, 10th district. I'm guessing, though, you're not from the 62nd district.....

Yeah, thats what I figured :|

Did you get a nomination from a representative? I know what district Im from but I know for sure that there arent 62 districts in Michigan...

How quickly did your nomination show on the candidate file? My son has received letters from 2 of our senators/congressman stating he has received nominations from them. Just curious as to when they come through the portal.

My mother serves in the Army and she says to definitely cut it! It won't be in your face if you get it cut appropriately for what you'll be doing (i.e. shorter around the eyes - no long bangs)! She says it will be so much easier during your training and with the limited time allowed, there's no other way to go! Hope this helps!

I think it all depends on the congressman or senator. My nomination showed up on my candidate file 3 weeks after I found out I received the nomination.

DS came home from Prep School last Friday (18 Dec) and had his MOC Interview on Saturday (19 Dec), by Tuesday (22 Dec), it was showing on his Candidate Portal! I was amazed at how fast they updated his application, the letter was here the same day too!

Is it odd to have a nomination posted on the portal before you've received a letter? On my portal, it says IL12 (which is my district), posted 10th Dec. However, I have yet to receive a letter informing me of my nomination from Congressman Costello...

No it can happen as did in my DS case. I think it all matters on the mail, and how fast the MOC's office types out the letter. The important issue is that your portal shows the nomination. :thumb:

It showed up the day I received the nomination. I actually called my senator's office to make sure I had received one

I think someone was right in saying that it depends on the congressperson. For me, the nomination showed up on my candidate portal before I received an official letter. I was confused at first too...I thought there was a mistake because I assumed that I would receive an email or a letter about a nomination before it showed up on the portal

Did locks of love today. Figured I mine as well get it cut where the hair can benefit someone else and I'll have plenty of time to get used to it. R-Day will be hard enough.

vampsoul: How short did you end up getting it cut?

I just got mine cut too (7 inches off!!). I can't go about getting super short hair as hassle-free as it may be. Mine is shoulder length now and can fit into a ponytail and bun.

That makes sense for you... but is it weird to go over two weeks with it on your portal but no letter? I think I'm going to call my congressman's office come Monday...

Ten inches! Up to my chin! It's a shock, but I think the look on my mother's face was worth it :yllol:.

What a nice thing for you to do! :thumb: One more thing to be proud of you for!

hmm yeah that is weird

mail wouldnt take 2 weeks to get somewhere within a state

I got the official letter like 3 days after it showed up on the portal

Mine hasn't shown up on the portal and the office submitted it Tuesday but I am sure the break is delaying everything. Armybratkl, Maybe your congressman's office was just too busy to mail notifications and then the holidays are getting in the way.

If you get appointed, what date do you have to confirm your acceptance to USMA by, ie pay your enrollment deposit?

Those are two different events. To confirm your acceptance, you send in the card (or do it online) that comes with the appointment. This has a May deadline. The money is sent in prior to R day, which is end of June.

Y'all really need to chill about the $$...it's 6 months away, and you can save a hefty chunk by then...or, you can contact WP and tell them you aren't able to pay and it will come out of your paycheck. It's not a big deal. People from all financial walks of life attend WP...they are used to this.

^Ok thanks!

When R-Day starts and CBT begins (is it June 29?), does CBT lead directly into classes? Or do you go home after Beast and then start classes? My family and I are planning for our summer plans next year and want to adjust for the change
