Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if my file will be put before the first admissions meeting/board if all my information is submitted besides my school profile (my guidance counselor said that it won't be ready yet/for a few weeks.) All the essays, DODMERB, CFA and recommendations are in, will my file be marked as complete?

Thank you.

Generally speaking no. When i "Generally Speaking", I mean.... the academy and the admissions board does alter their requirements each year. But when you're speaking of your school profile, the chances are, that means not just your school profile but your OFFICIAL GPA/Transcript as well as your class ranking. The academy needs this. It is very important. They can't, and WON'T take your word for it. Just like when you first applied; probably for summer seminar; you listed your gpa, PSAT, SAT, etc. Those were all SELF REPORTED. They didn't count. They weren't official. But for your academic score on your academy application, the academy must have your OFFICIAL Transcript, with your official GPA and official class rank. All 3 of those; along with your ACT/SAT scores create an overall academic score. If they don't have this information, they can't give you an academic score. Thus, your application can't move forward.

For those who care, USUALLY the only way your application can meet the board, is if it's 100% complete. Which means everything other than your DODMRB physical and a Nomination. Those 2 things can still be pending; but everything else must be 100% complete or your file won't move on to the review board.

So will the board start meeting next week? I've heard Oct.

The school profile doesn't have to be sent at same time as the transcripts, but if your counselor is putting it all together, it probably will be. I would ask that transcripts be sent now, if they haven't already been, and make sure they also include class rank. If the actual school profile hasn't been updated since last year, I would ask the counselor to send last year's profile now, then update later when the new profile is completed.

I am far from in the know, but my suspicion is that your package may still be reviewed without the profile. You can call USAFA and ask someone in admissions, most likely the person listed on your portal. If not, I wouldn't worry too much. Honestly, patience is such a virtue in this process.

Ultimately your application will be fully considered, and compared to those you are competing against. No one slips through the cracks. Do everything you can do, and control what you can control. Be prompt and conscientious, but understand also that there are many things along the way that you just have to wait for, and rely upon others to do what they need to do.

Most schools are busy. They don't usually waste time send 2 SEPARATE packages to the academy. They generally send everything about you, including your school profile, transcript, schedule, ranking, etc. at the same time. They don't want to have to spend any more time than they have to. And the school profile is very important. That's how the academy determines any "Weighting". Does your school have AP or IB classes? Did you take them. Do a LOT of your high school grads go to college? If so, WHERE? Are they mostly Community College or local state University? How many go out of state. Etc. They need all this information to accurately give you an academic score.

Just wanted to thank everyone for posting here, much appreciated. Fortunately the school profile was sent in yesterday :)!
