R-Day Packing Questions

Good afternoon everyone!

I am running through and purchasing everything on the pack list for R-day, but had a couple questions that could use clarifying.
- Jake

Hi Jake - Just out of curiosity, can you post the entire contents of that R-day packing list? Thanks in advance!

I had read as a parent, on these forums, to take a 6 inch electric fan. My now rising Firstie declined, not wanting to be 'that guy'. It was on the 'allowed list'. Should check if it still is. I presume it is.

He acknowledged after Beast, he wish he had, and no one would have given him any grief from the Cadre. I guess a refurbed barrack or 2 may now have AC, but its hot up there.....hang your shoes and boots outside your bag, and put your fan inside if you are embarrassed....but you will be a much happier camper. He went light, but that was a regret he would do differently if he had it to do over again.

Your leatherman is not necessary. A head lamp would every valuable by freeing up a hand to set up things.

Push Hard, Press Forward

I used my leatherman every summer. I loved having it, wouldn't ever give it up (still carry it everyday on flight line in my flight bag and still use it all the time), but at the end of the day, someone else will have one you can borrow if you can't bring yours or until you get it mailed to you. 4" limitation should be for the blade. Good rule of thumb, if the blade is longer than your palm, it's probably won't fly.

Also bear in mind that you will have a few opportunities to go to the Cadet Store during Beast to grab things like toiletries and whatnot.

Don't count on being able to go to the C-store at any time that will ever be convenient for you. You go when your schedule and your cadre can work it out (always the day after you really need to go) and lines will be long. Bring your own toiletries. Good practice for the future anyways.

I remember reading (probably in one of the admissible packets or something) that the court shoes were going to be used for gym activities and things like military movement.

Oh the wonderful court shoes...yea, they're required to wear during military movement. After that, you wear whatever you want in DPE classes or on the IOCT. At least they quit issuing wrestling shoes as far as I know now that combatives is done barefoot.

Cut him some slack, it was a fair assumption that you were a candidate considering you were on this forum and asking for the packing list. He may have come off a bit harsh, but emotion rarely comes off perfectly through text (Poe's Law.)
