R-Day SAF Dinner 2011

Those doing the planned travel package will not be able to attend since you all have to stay in Newark the night before R Day.

We've tried multiple times to get in touch with Painter's but they have not returned any calls. Does anyone else have any other suggestions for a restaurant? It's whatever the group decides to do.

Plenty of restaurants in Central Valley. There's also Torches on the river in Newburgh, or Lynch's in Tompkins Cove.

Or, you know...MREs in the park in Highland Falls.

Thanks for the suggestions scoutpilot. I'll look into the two you mentioned, and I've eaten a few times in Central Valley myself so there's a few options as well.

The MRE's are tempting but I think we candidates will have enough of them during second detail of Beast.

If you don't mind traveling to Cold Springs (across the river), there are two restaurants there that I would recommend:
Cathryn's Tuscan Grill and Brasserie Le Bouchon.

Me too

I'd also like to attend if a place is decided on. Sounds exciting :0
(4-5) maybe.

Julie Dillon

I'll be looking into the restaurants and locations scoutpilot and buff81 suggested within the next couple of days as AKH is currently on spring break. I'll report back soon on the location. At this point with the size of the group we are looking at, the main criteria is availability for such a large group and also price.

jake s-
if the group gets too big for a restaurant, you might consider having the get together on Post. There are several places that can hold groups (49er Lodge, Train station, West Point Club) and you can have it catered by West Point.
All are nice facilities and you can cater at all price levels.
I have attended a catered dinner at the 49er Lodge and it is a very nice, casual atmosphere which I would think would be good for this occasion. It is near the stadium.
Having something on Post might be more convenient than traveling to surrounding communities.
PM me if this is something you would like to look into. I have all the info and will send it to you.

Hey Jake you can mark me down as well. My family too, 5 total. I'll eat anything edible. Ha.

Just to give everyone an update on where we are...

We have Painter's gallery room reserved for the evening of June 26th. The menu for the evening will be finalized by this weekend hopefully. The price per person is shaping up to be very reasonable. If anyone wants to see the menu options then PM me. The meal will be buffet style and it'll be "American" food choices. In other words, it'll have something for everyone to enjoy :thumb:

While a lot of people have expressed interest, we need confirmations now that the wheels are rolling on this. I am therefore going to start over with the list and let everyone put their name down. I look forward to seeing you all at the dinner!
