Hello,
I am reapplying to USNA as a freshman college applicant. I did not get accepted last year. This year I am taking calc w/lab, physics w/lab,chem w/lab,english,military science and a college first year class and am doing pretty well. I also joined a club at school. I am not really sure what else I can do to improve my application as I am not quite sure what they look for in college applicants. I have a lot of clubs and activities from high school. btw, i go to New Mexico Military Institute. Any advice would be great. I've retaken the SAT's and my scores are not that great 600 in each section but Im not sure how those look to the academy for a college applicant. Any tips are appreciated thanks!

Not trying to be snarky here, but this post raises a question for me.

Doesn't NMMI specialize in helping students prepare for and reapply to service academies? I would expect there to be great expertise and experience available on campus- is this not the case? Or am I mistaken about NMMI's programs?

You are correct, NMMI does have people available on campus during the week that are able to help students prepare for and reapply to service academies. However, If I am not mistaken, there are also experts on this forum who can provide great insight as well as tips and one can never have to many opinions and or tips to help better something. I figured it could not hurt to hear from others sources as well.

Gotcha- thanks!

Yes, lots of valuable experience here, generously shared. I sure didn't mean to discourage you from asking here- this forum is awesome.

Best of luck to you in reapplying!
