I will be having plenty of free time in the upcoming months, I usually finish my assignments early in class, or have a lot of downtime at school. Any suggestions for reading material or anything to learn before CBT? Possibly the plebe knowledge you must learn? Anything valuable skills I should learn to keep myself organized? I want to start practicing my organization, fitness, and learning now so I can get a head start. We have 5 months, thats 5 months of work I can take off of a stressful plebe year!

The knowledge book for beast is online, so you can start memorizing that.

I really liked Absolutely American by David Lipsky and Diary of a West Point Cadet by Preston Pysh

Basics... Military time, get comfortable enough so you can switch in and out without pause.

Free app, Military Ranks. Officer and enlisted ranks, all services, with visuals of uniform insignia.

The month before you go - start getting up early, to adjust for any time zone changes as well as just habituating yourself to getting up while it's dark.

Learn to shave faster if applicable. Ditto shower.

And take plenty of time to spend with friends and family.

I wouldn't worry too much about trying to learn the knowledge ahead of time. The other books recommended on here are both excellent. Another good book written by a graduate is Hope Unseen. Depending on what your interests are, I have five shelves of leadership, military, history, and other professional development type books to recommend from. What types of books do you like?

However, one thing you should do is keep working on getting in shape/getting in better shape. Five months is a perfect amount of time to work on that. If you already workout frequently, don't let yourself slack off in this area.

Remember, regardless of how much you prepare, you will still be stressed at various times. West Point designs its process to challenge everyone, which will serve to make you a better leader in the process.

I like to read a lot about leadership theory and application, stuff that will help me develop myself.

Do a google search for the Chief of Staff's 2014 professional reading list. It has quite a few books GEN Odierno recommends for leaders to read, separated into 3 different categories.

Others I would add (though there's a ton I could add):

"Dereliction of Duty" - LTG H.R. McMaster
"Beyond Band of Brothers" -Dick Winters
"With the Old Breed" -E.B. Sledge
    FM 6-22
    AR 670-1
    FM 3-21.5
