I am reapplying for an NROTC scholarship after not receiving one this year (4-yr scholarship). So basically, I am applying for a 3-yr scholarship and I was told to fill out the same application as last year. However, I did not see a place to indicate that I am applying for a 3-yr scholarship and it still has me fill out a list of five schools to attend on the "NROTC Interests" page. Yet, since I will be applying for a scholarship that would start my sophomore year in college, I will already have picked and attended freshman year at a college. I won't be applying to any more schools my freshman year, so I am essentially only asking for a scholarship at one specific school. How would I put this on the application? It makes you list five schools and I don't know what I'm supposed to do... Any help?

Call the NROTC Unit at the school you will be attending and ask for their help and guidance. They'll also be able to tell you if they think it's likely that any side load scholarships will even be given out next year.

That's where I am at. I am applying for my Sophomore year as well. You do fill out the same application. When I went for my Officer's Interview, he just told me that since I would only be in it for three years I'll be sent to training to "catch up" with my class for two months in Rhode Island over the summer.

    re-post....read below.

Do you intend to join your top choice NROTC battalion freshman year? Excelling during NROTC college programmer year is beneficial to receiving 3 year scholarship award. As noted in NTSC 12/16/2010 directive, side load (college programmer) scholarships have been reduced.

I suggest contacting NROTC in Pensacola, Florida for directions in completing NROTC application.

Side-load Scholarship goals per December 16, 2010 communication from Naval Training Service Command.

    YG13 - 3yr (0), 2 1/2 and 2 yr (0), 2yr LREC* (4)
    YG14 - 3yr (0), 3yr LREC (24), 2 1/2 yr (14), 2 yr LREC (0)
    YG15 - 3 yr (70), 3 yr LREC (0), 2 1/2 yr (25), 2 yr (22), 2yr LREC (0)
