what does the honor code say about getting help from other cadets, especially in regards to editing papers and things like that?

I'd think that the honor code would have no problem about that. The only way it could is if it's not your work and you try to pass it off as your own (lying, cheating, and stealing all in one!). So as long as it's you doing the work and just getting assistance here and there with editing, ideas, etc... use the network.
