Recognition Countdown

TODAY IS THE DAY! BOMBS AWAY - LeMAY

i cant believe it is here.

I doesn't start until this afternoon! Good Luck class of 2013.

FRESHMEN! PLEASE READ!!!

First off, good luck this weekend. Please remember a couple things as you post on here after Recognition:

Recognition is a very important and special event. Please share about your excitement and stories as you will, but please censor your posts. Parts of Recognition, "outsiders" will not be able to relate to or understand. As you are soon to experience, there are other parts that do not need to be discussed to future cadets because it will ruin part of what makes it so special. So please just be careful what you're posting so that future cadets can have the same experience you are hopefully going to receive.

And for anyone curious, i do not mean "censor" in the meaning of suppression. There's no maltreatment, etc, there are just certain things that are dear and important and that unless you experience it you cannot understand, and knowing about it before you experience it can make it less effective. Thanks.

Agreed. It's like reading a book before seeing the movie. The movie is still the same, but it won't have the same impact.

Please don't give appointees the "plot" of recognition.

<SPOILER ALERT>
The fact that it can be spoiled tells me more than I knew before.
This should for parents that are told the plot by their cadets.
</SPOLER ALERT>

None of the 4th class are probably reading this post, so it's mostly for parents and cadets to be. This is an exciting time for these cadets. It's stressful, but it's happy. It's a milestone that they will remember always. Just like they'll remember footprints; "A" day; now "R" day. And there will be more good days to remember. A little over a year from now, most of these 4th class will be making a commitment to the academy and the service of their country. And then they'll be getting ready to graduate and become commissioned.

Time flies, and these are some of the greatest moments. Eagle is so right. There are some things at the academy and in the military in general that no one else can understand or appreciate unless they've been there. So feel good for your cadets. You future cadets, realize that the academy will probably be harder than anything you've ever done before and more than many things in the future. But the rewards of accomplishment are something that you'll cherish forever.

So for all you 4th class that are recognized this weekend, congratulation. Thank you for your hard work and for willing to serve. Best of Luck. Mike...
