Thank you for that historical insight KPENGINEER. It is helpful for the parents of 2013 to hear that perspective.

I forgot to add that my class was the last one to be segregated as plebes. I was told that up till that year, main deck was all plebes, second deck was 2/C and 3/C and flight deck was all 1/C. They flipped it and our class as plebes were housed on flight deck with the only non-plebes on our deck being the CX and PC. I think it made a huge difference in our ability to come together as a class free from some of the negative influences that can come from the upperclassmen. We basically never saw anyone other than each other and our company M/N officers. I was actually sad to see it go away the following year and the classes were distributed equally across the decks.
