Recognition

word is the Admiral said no flour booms, eggs and almost no mud pit..... lots of Plebes are up in arm! Kinda like a "right of passage" for them that they have been looking forward to for the past 10 months :frown:

All will line up in orderly fashion and accept mannerly congratulations and a polite handshake from the upper classmen......Yeah, Right!

:yllol: .. . . . . . . . :worship:

They have painted 2014 on the floor of the 5th company. I have seen it and it is really cool. Some of the kids have made it their facebook profile pic.

That's not what my source is telling me.

Well, I find that interesting since it was HIS class that created the festering garbage pit for us.

If my memory serves me, it was also that class that drove a car into the Eldridge Pool which ultimately resulted in the pool fence! They were a wild group ......the historic recognition antics remain to be seen.

April fools joke.

I heard that the Seniors woke the Plebes up at 0400 yesterday and pretended that it was their recognition initiation.

That has to be one of the meanest April Fool pranks I've heard.

Then there may have been more than one class to do that. I do believe that a similar feat was achieved by some of my classmates. But then there was the garbage truck. . . .

Not entirely correct - to my recollection it was the Class of 1979 (not 1978) that put the car into Eldridge.

Also the fence came later, I know because it would have hurt as I would have run into it following Change of Command in June 1982.

Also please remember in order to protect the guilty during that era 1977 - 1987 we never would admit who either particular Class or individuals that pulled pranks such as: putting tires up the flagpole; parking cars into Eldridge Pool; place Lasers onto the portico/patio of Wiley Hall; turning the 5in Mark 40 gun around so it was pointed AT vice AWAY from Wiley Hall; painting "slogans" on the side of the SUNY-MC school ship to say farewell to parents when they left for their summer cruise, etc. As some of those individuals might still be alive, and some might even now have sons and/or daughters who are members of the current Regiment of Midshipmen or some might even be members of the current Academy Staff; it's probably best we continue our practice and vows of "Omerta" for at least a few more years.

With cameras and cell phones protecting the guilty of today may not be so easy.

Nice list. There ARE a couple left out, however, and probably for VERY good reasons. There were some in my class that were lucky enough to spend some time in Restriction after graduation. . . . . Or so I am told. Nice summer vacation, no? Although that tire was truly classic. Right up there with the legendary (reported) monomoy up on the portico at Wiley Hall (before my time, of course).

Ah, the childishness of it all...

My daughter is in Band Co, and their Plebes filled up a complete hallway floor with cups of water. This is a gas! Looking forward to some muddy pictures...
