Recruited athletes

Do recruited athletes, especially in the major sports (fball, bball), get appointed with other nomination sources (SecNav, Supt, etc)? Seems that the MOC noms would be for candidates who have done the drill with the application process. Do they add into a states allottment?

I can only speak from our experience. Our son received his nomination from our congressman and he is a recruited athlete.

Not sure what it's like for other recruited athlete's, but I dont think the application process was any easier, we had to complete all the steps just like anyone else.
