Recurring Topic: USMMA to Active Duty

Please, just stop hitting the channel markers (or bridges).... With all due respect.

Tell your son that he'd better develop a thick skin, because upperclassmen and plebes alike will not hesitate to belittle him and call him names. It's an enigma, on one hand I've never met a kinder select group of people, on the other hand, I've never met a more abrasive group of people who will take every opportunity to belittle you. But of course, it becomes camaraderie and all in good fun. Some people though, just abrasive.

Much the same once one gets out of school, too. . . . especially on smaller vessels. . .

With all due respect LIS, go back to fixing channel markers, writing tickets, and certifying rust buckets as seaworthy.
Please don't feed the animals, you only encourage them to come back.

Well, in response to both above, yeah, although I never did the active duty deal. . .but shipyards? Oh, yeah. . . spent a lot of time in yards when I was with ABS for 10 years. . . .
