Alrighty come one come all, place yer' bets. Will the Wings repeat and win their 12th 'La Coupe Stanley'? Or will 'Sid the kid' solidify his legitimacy as a true NHL superstar by beating the team that knocked him out of the finals one year prior? Only time will tell. And if your not a hockey fan there is no better time to become one on the eve of the sports most prestigious event.

Crosby's a little whiny girl.

Voted every year as The Biggest Whiner In The NHL by his fellow players.

Search the term NHL WHINER on google and check the hits that come back. Hard to believe the Steel City of Pittsburgh actually accepts him as one of their own - a city known for toughness and hard-nosed play actually embracing a little whining diver like Crosby? :screwy:

Over rated, not even the best player on his team.

    A tribute to "Cindy" Crosby.

    Go Wings.

Can I watch a series while my stomach cramps up?
These are the two teams I most likely did NOT want to see.

Any city that has to tell you its Hockeytown is not. And any true Philly guy is not now or ever going to root for Pittsburgh!

    Teams to root for that need a cup;
    Philadelphia
    Toronto
    Boston
    Chicago
    Calagary

BTW, that Chicago/Detroit series was GREAT!

Detroit's not what it used to be, but neither is Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh lost a lot of skill last year, and replaced it with Bill Guerin and Kunitz...they're weak spot is defense.

I hate Detroit, but I think they may be the deeper team (a theme that is almost repeated across the board with the other western conference teams).

    AMEN TO THAT! GO FLYERS!

I love walking around the Wachovia Center and seeing someone wearing a Penguins jersey, you are about to boo them and wait! Its a Criesby Jersey hahaha gotta love Philly fans. :yllol:

Like I told devil(a devils fan) last night, I would do about almost anything to make sure Cindy Criesby doesn't raise Lord Stanley over his head.

I think the win last night minus many of their top players (especially 3 of their top 6 defensemen) speaks volumes for the team.

The other thing I have noticed about the Wings is that when their "top" players are not producing, they don't seem to focus on it internally like many of the "star driven" teams. Perhaps their depth has the confidence to take things in stride.

BTW, Hockeytown has been Hockeytown forever. The fact that they have it painted on the ice is to remind every place else where Hockeytown really is when they watch their teams on the road.

    WOW!
Nobody gives a snowballs chance for Pitt. Does not speak well for ratings.
All 24 people in Pittsburgh and 12 in Detroit can watch this one.

#6 on the top ten reasons we hate Detroit. The "Hockeytown" name. If Detroit is such a great hockey town, why are there empty seats in the arena for the Cup Finals? Why was the arena "dead silent" last night, according to fans of both Detroit and Pittsburgh? Why could fans, according to Don Cherry, call up the team the morning of a Conference Final game and get tickets? Not just one or two tickets either: a block of 12 tickets all together. You should be ashamed to call yourselves "Hockeytown." Give that name to a team where the fans support no matter what: Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Colorado, Minnesota, New York, Philadelphia. Not Detroit, where attendance reads well, but in actuality is nowhere near the published numbers.

Just having fun Goaliedad, enjoy the finals!

I know you are having fun, hockeyguy!

The empty seat phenomenom actually only started about a year or so ago when the economy of Detroit tanked. They had a sell-out streak going back to '95 IIRC. Back when we lived there (The days of Ozzie's first cup), you couldn't get SRO tickets to a playoff game for less than $500. I couldn't afford to go to games back then. Fortunately, we had Hockey Night in Canada where we could get intellegent play-by-play and check our Vertical and Horizontal line reception during intermission thanks to Don Cherry's wardrobe.

The Wings still make money, though as they are still great at merchandizing and have a loyal following all over the country (as everyone including your's truly has left Detroit).

Detroit is one of the most dedicated and well deserving cities of an NHL team in the league, an Original 6 team at that. If you want to complain about cities non-deserving of teams you should direct your disdain to Phoenix, Atlanta, Nashville, Miami and up until several years ago Anaheim. I'm sorry but hockey does not belong in the south. There are so many more better hockey cities in the northern U.S. and Canada. Hamilton, Quebec City, Winnipeg, Milwaukee

I'll be the one, even if i really don't care who wins the series, that will pick the Pens. And Crosby might be shadowed by Malkin as of right now. I'm honestly glad to see the 'canes gone to stop the continuing theme that whoever wins the Devils/Canes series goes to the Cup Finals. But back to the Series at hand. Detroit has the experience, but after last year, i see the Pens hungrier, and they won't be as nervous. Pens have the speed and I believe the fire to win. I say Penguins in 6.

Yup, great game last night. Scuderi once again has shown what an awesome defensemen he is. I only like him Gueirn and Stall
