Does the fact that I completed my application late January mean I will be the last to hear from the academy or is it possible I will find out in March?

Just posted 20 minutes ago by the US Air Force Academy Admissions FB Page:

"We are in the regular selections cycle now. Notifications go out between 30-45 days. Notifications for acceptance to the Air Force Academy will go out no later than mid-April."

So... what if we were EA? If we haven't heard back yet, is that a bad sign, since they are now in the regular admissions cycle?

I don't think so, baileydb. Since you were deferred to RA, you are now a part of that group. Hang tight....

I thought early March was the norm in past years. Any appointees from previous years remember when they heard?
Last year the bulk of the RA appointments started coming out around the middle of March.

I don't think they were very clear with their Facebook announcement. I interpreted it to be that RA appointments would be coming out for the next 30-45 days (not in the next 30-45 days) and that everyone would hear something by April 15... But I've been wrong before. :wow:

I heard my "Yes" in late April, but was a special case since I was a Falcon Scholar at prep school and we are normally some of the last notified. Senior year of high school I got my "No" in late March. So what I'm trying to say is you will almost certainly hear in March or April. It's almost over!

Based on past years it would be safe to assume we would hear for the next 30-45 days and not in 30-45 days. This of course assumes USAFA is following the same timeline as years past where most appointments were offered smack dab in the middle of March. As always anything is possible, but we should all be hearing something by April 15th either way. I know the wait is killing me, I'm sure it is for everyone else as well.

That was just weird phrasing. Why not say within the next 45 days? That seems to make the most sense.

During the next 30-45 days will appointments continue to come out mostly on Fridays or will they be put out on portals during other days of the week too?

It's a rolling appointment process. Just because the Majority will find out in March-April, doesn't mean you couldn't find out today or tomorrow. You check your email every day; just make it a point to check your portal every day and look for messages to you. And for what it's worth, just because the majority will be notified in March-April (Any day and any time in that period), doesn't mean it isn't possible that you could receive an offer in May. As hard as it is to believe, the air force academy is not everyone's "First Choice" for college. The academy has gotten better and giving out appointments, but a lot of appointees will still turn down the appointment; and then they'll be offering to someone else. Up until just a couple years ago, the normal year, they would OFFER around 1700 appointments because they knew that 400-500 would turn it down; and they'd end up with the 1200+/- they wanted. Because of funding issues and stricter rules on giving appointments, they don't offer as many at one time. But they will still receive a lot of individuals turning down their appointments. For the majority of the 10,000-12,000 who initially apply to the academy, probably close to half had the academy as their FIRST choice for college. I've had quite a few applicants change their mind.

Yeah, my DD is one of them. Appointment to USAFA back in October (EA) only to be offered an appointment to USNA a few weeks ago which she accepted the next day. Hello Annapolis. Getting used to the motto of AF "Grad" - Navy Dad.
