Quick question. Do you have to reimburse the CGA for tuition etc if you transfer to another service academy? How about to a another college ( not within the military) after one year or after how ever many years.

    1. There are no "transfers" to another academy. You would apply for an appointment at the "other" academy just as you did to get into USCGA. Doubtful that would be successful, though.

    2. You are free to leave any of the academies without any service commitment or monetary reimbursement, as long as you leave before the beginning of your 2/c (junior) year.

If it was via frocking, they are still not considered 2/c in the legal sense of determining when a service commitment begins.

They just get to wear their white collar devices a week earlier.

A little bird told me today that there will be a change this Swab summer: no yelling at Swabs or spewing Indoc during meals in the ward room. Cape May C.C. recommendations that will be tried out this summer.

I've seen Cape May CCs work in Cape May...there's quite a bit of yelling. We've had Cape May CCs since before I was a cadre.

Every year there's a rumor "no yelling chits" etc...never happens.

That rumor is actually true. My first reaction was that it was "soft" too but after thinking about it I realized it won't make that much of a difference. With the old way the yelling makes the wardroom so loud that everything you say is yelled just so people 2 seats down can hear you. So there really wasn't that much "yelling" before, it was just talking loud to be heard.

plus, a good cadre doesn't need to yell that often to be effective. The content of what you say usually means more.
