Someone directed me to this about a week ago:

http://www.usmma.edu/admin/MN_Fee_Refund.shtml

Does anyone know anything about this? I tried calling, and of course the numbers are disconnected. I tried emailing the contact listed, but no response. Also, all of the classmates I spoke with definitely did not get contacted on May 23. Any information would be appreciated!

I was informed yesterday that it is in the works and that it is MARAD and not KP

not holding my breath. Would be nice since we paid out over $7,500 for plebe year. :)

Dont hold your breath

Based on the current crisis our Gov't is in, I would not expect to get any money back, at least for a while. I would also expect it to be taxed.

Actually my understanding is/was these monies were both authorized and appropriated in the GFY2010 Federal Budget, so current budget only impacts things if the Government shuts down as the money should be there but without Government employees there will not be anyone to process the repayment.

Of course even if that is the case, I, like KPMom2011, am not holding my breadth; we too remitted considerably more than the current fees during the Plebe Year of the Class of 2012 but prior Classes are due considerably more than us the way the computations and determinations were made. In any case, we won't see these monies if/when they come as they will be placed directly into the accounts our cons and daughters direct them to, no doubt. Again no issue. You can check with your accountant but my understanding is this should NOT be taxed, at least Federal taxes, as it is merely a return of improperly collected fees by the Government to you/them/us but perhaps CPASteve could confirm as I always screw that sort of stuff up.
