Reinstating the draft?

I wonder who the yoyo is that is pushing this court martial and no it is not "The Chain of Command". Somewhere in the military bureaucracy is an individual who is pushing this. I have to question his/her motives.
I would like to see them identified and hear their reasoning for the continuing prosecution. Is someone looking for their next star or maybe to become the head of the PC enforcement branch of the government, the PC czar:confused: just my opinion.

You can criticize the draft policy in Vietnam, but I don't think that is really related to discussing implementing it currently. It could be something every 18 year old is required to do, or it could be implemented in such a way that those selected are not chosen based upon socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, religious or any other factors. The deferment process would have to be completely different, and the selective service has already made this clear.

After having done some digging on this...the conclusion I've come to is that they were offered NJP under Article 15 and, as is their right, they all refused it. At that point, the convening authority has two choices:

a. Drop it
b. Proceed to court martial

Evidently the convening authority thinks this needs to be pursued.

We can count on Congress to make sure that the draft is applied equitably. They've done such a fine job making sure that they don't exempt themselves from the "rules" that apply to the rest of us. I'm sure the Senators would be first in line to make sure their children are put in harms way. If by some chance one of their kids actually was drafted he'd probably be assigned as a life guard in Guam. Perhaps the Air Force Reserve in Alabama. I may be a little skeptical....

Imagine enlisting knowing that you were going in the next draft pool and then sitting on a mountain top in Oregon out in the middle of nowhere and seeing that your lottery number "might" come up in the next century. Oh Well. We roll the dice. And then did VietNam anyway. Did it to get out of going to the Arctic Circle.
