Rejection, Possible vacancy due to decline?

Sorry, Roman!

HEY ROMAN, Sorry, Roman...We share in your TWE rejection, esp. the ones who are in your position! It does suck. Right now. But you are going to succeed. Get ready for next year application ASAP and work hard. ROTC, Prep schools, whatever you can do. Lots of good advice from real pros on this board.

I guess it's not all bad being rejected. If I were to go next year life would be hell. But if I had a year of college before hand life would be slightly less hellish.

thats true!!! way to think optimistic man!

I feel your pain.....I haven't received anything from the USAFA in a long time. Just hoping and waiting. How late can they send out the TWE? I was hopeful for an early appoint. so I could go to orientation so I could get my boots..... This waiting is hard.

It really is hard. I hope they are still sending out more appointments!

Hang tough!

All of you are remarkable young people, you make all of us proud. Do not give up on your dreams....while today may seem bleak you ALL have a wonderful future, stay strong and follow your heart!

I know it is corny but when one door closes another door opens.....

The doors are wide open for all you!

I'm pretty much ready for a rejection letter. ya i'll apply again next year, but for this year coming up i'm just gonna go to Arizona State University and have a some fun. Not too much obviously, I'm gonna join the AFROTC there, but i'll be with some friends from school.

Another good thing about being ready for the rejection is it would make the acceptance that much better! haha but I feel like that's unlikely. We'll see!

I'll obviously post it up when the letter comes in...

I got the thin white letter today :( At least I've got the type 1 scholarship to fall back on.

I got the thin letter today. Waitlisted. Any way to find out where we stand on the waitlist?

The short answer is no.

Not even your ALO knows the answer to this and in truth, if I called about one of my candidates I'm pretty certain "they" would NOT tell me.

It's a "wait and hope" situation.

Sorry.

Wow! That's annoying! Does anyone know how many people get wait listed that are triple qualified?

For the Class of 2012:

2099 qualified candidates
1642 were offered appointments
1320 were admitted

So after the initial appointments went out, there were 779 waitlisted and 322 of those were offered appointments (41% of them).

So everyone who is qualified but not offered an appointment is considered on the waiting list?

You are mixing apples and oranges.

You cannot get the number you are after by using the data you provided.

Those 2012 numbers have nothing to do with wait-listed candidates.

2099 is the number of 3Q+nom candidates, 1642 is the number of offered appointments, and 1320 is the number of candidates who accepted.

The only inferences you can make from that data is the acceptance rate (78.2% of those offered appointments accepted the appointment) and the number of 3Q+nom candidates who were not offered appointments (457).

No wait-list data is contained in those numbers.

Would not the waitlisted candidates be contained in the number 779 (2099 - 1320)? I also don't see why anyone of these 779 would not be considered waitlisted since they have a nomination and if all the people ahead of them on the slate denied an offer, they would be next.

First they send out all the appointments to the 1320.
Then as people decline the offer or are DQ'd, 322 more are sent out to those waitlisted.

I believe my 41% (322 / 779) is good estimate for the maximum amount of waitlisted candidates who receive appointments.

OK! I am so confused! My husband and I are apart for the year so I have been trying to handle all this alone. How do you know if your on a wait list? I thought they just flat out rejected my son. What does 3Q mean? You would think spending my entire life in the military I would know this!

3Q'd

3 areas of being qualified..

Medically.. got thru DODMERB okay.. or got waivers

Academically... good SAT's and grades

Physically- Good CFA...

I believe that is 3'qd, but someone else needs to chime in, I am a new parent and by no means an expert. I was not even sure that my daughter was 3Qd.. but I believe if you are a candidate then you are 3Qd.

I am alone too.. so I know how stressful that can be. Best of luck to you!!!
