report time in PTR Packet

^^ While all of that may be true, I would NOT plan to show up late, not a good way to get things started on I-day. Time are staggered to allow for smoother processing and you can go earlier then scheduled as others have mentioned.

My S (currently 2nd Class) has said repeatedly that he remembers very little of I-Day.

Parents:

Your plebes will NOT starve. Trust me on this. They may feel a bit hungry now and then but there is plenty of food and the firsties will ensure they eat. Seriously. The one thing I can say about PS and being a mid is that I never went hungry. Plebes will typically lose weight over the summer but, in nearly all cases, that's b/c they are working out/being active all day every day. So, even though they're eating well, they're working it off.

It's fine to bring food for the time you have with your plebe on I-Day but if you don't, he/she will get dinner almost immediately. It will be an interesting dinner  but there will be food.

Agree on the report times. USNA doesn't want 1190 plebes descending on Alumni Hall at the same moment. Thus, they stagger people throughout the morning but, if you arrive early, they'll process you more or less when you get there.

Oh! I definitely agree with that. Early seems to be OK ... I'm not sure how late would play out. :)

Memphis:

Same with me:shake:. Got he** for missing. Droped off one hour early and will be right back. Came back with the camera and it was all over and DD was already in/processing. If they see you they will send you in. Hide until Dad gets back on the Bus. They will not starve but they may be too nervous to eat lunch during processing. Evening meal might be better.

DS has a 0700 report time but we will all arrive at about 0630. I hope it will give him an easier I-day.

This is a very minor point, but this is an observation I've made having seen several I-Days (and been a detailer myself many moons ago). Many of the detailers are a little uncomfortable with the situation at the very beginning and tend to only do what they are administratively required to do. But, as the day wears on, they start getting more comfortable. They slowly start slipping into detailer-mode. They feed off one another. Their confidence builds. It starts hitting home, "I'm a detailer now!" That's when they start getting into the faces of the Plebes a little more.

"The first and last thing out of your mouth should be sir or ma'am! Are you having difficulty following instructions, Mr. Smith?"

"No, sir!"

"What did I just tell you?!"

The Plebes who check in later are going to be facing more confident detailers than those who check in much earlier.

Yet, I want to emphasize, this is a very minor point.

Good luck.

If you had a medical waiver, be prepared to be stuck in Alumni for a few hours more than the norm. My lunch that day was one of those suspicious cardboard box things.

My DS had a 7am report time last year. We were up at 5 , breakfast at 5:45 in the Westin lobby. Slow walk down to the yard at 6am. He did not want to risk being late. We got to Alumni Hall at 6:30 after taking the long walk along the seawall and milled around. By 6:45 he had enough of watching the other emotional kids so he went in.

He said the processing went very quickly . He was in his room in Bancroft in a little over an hour. Then the long day of hiding in his room from the detailer's rath began.

I think his advice would be do not go in any sooner than you need to. His roomate reported at 8:30 and did not get to the room until mid-afternoon. Roomate seemed alot less stressed when they came to see us later. Plebe summer is long enough, dont rush in .

Just my opinion. Enjoy the day . It is like nothing I have ever experienced.
